An-Nakhlah Academy was initiated in January 2018 with our main goal to empower our children to love and live Islam. Our self designed syllabus, interactive small practical classes, and entertaining school trips, join fun and knowledge together. This inculcates in the awareness of Allah and the fundamentals of the Deen whilst emphasising that one can still enjoy oneself when being a Muslim and practicing Islam. Specific workshops debating and tackling scientific and philosophical theories contradicting Islam are designed for the elder children, whilst those that are younger are taught principles and beliefs through stories and morals from the lives of Prophets and Messengers. Our goal is to become the focal fundamental function in empowering our children to water the seeds of Iman in their hearts, paving the avenue to make them love and live Islam!

The syllabus used for the An-Nakhlah Academy has been designed and written by us. Two separate course booklets running from levels 1 to 10 have been produced for our students. Children between the ages of 4-9 will study the “Workbook” booklets, whilst those between the ages of 10-15 are taught through the “Coursenotes” booklets. Whilst both booklets incorporate similar subjects and sciences throughout its levels, the “Coursenotes” booklets are designed for a more advanced study and discussion of its content, whereas the “Workbook” booklets are heavily based on activities, arts and crafts and lessons through stories and incidents.

Both booklets consist of a number of subjects including Quran, Arabic, Tafseer, Fiqh, Seerah, Aqeedah, Hadith, Du’as and Islamic morals and etiquettes. However, our five core sciences designed to educate our students are Aqeedah, Fiqh, Hadith, Seerah and Stories of the Prophets.

Our Aqeedah classes are designed to teach our students core principles of Islam, the pillars or Islam and Eeman as well as core, fundamental principles of Tawhid, worship and its nullifiers. Moreover, students will be taught the names and meanings of Allah and how to apply them in their lives. “Coursenotes” students will partake in numerous discussions and debates proving the existence of Allah, evidences that Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger and evidences that Islam is the religion of truth. Our goal through our Aqeedah classes is to ensure that every student is absolutely certain that Islam is the only path to Paradise, and that all possible doubts they may have or are taught in schools are correctly and appropriately dismantled.

Fiqh is the second core science all students study at An-Nakhlah Academy. Students will be taught everything a Muslim is required to know to worship Allah and live the life of this world in the pleasure of Allah. Topics covered will include but are not limited to:

  • The types of water permitted to use for Wudu
  • How to perform the Wudu
  • What invalidates the Wudu
  • Tayammum & Ghusl
  • Rulings pertaining to Menstruation (women only)
  • The prophetic description of the Prayer
  • Conditions, Pillars & Obligatory actions of the Prayer
  • The Prostration of Forgetfulness
  • Zakah and to who it is obligatory upon
  • The recipients of Zakah
  • Matters to related to fasting
  • What invalidates the fast
  • Hajj, Umrah and its etiquettes
  • The fiqh of transactions
  • Permissible and impermissible transactions

“Coursenotes” students will study the above in depth where as “Workbook” students will only be slightly introduced to these topics.

Students at An-Nakhlah Academy will study the famous 40 hadith compilation by Imam an-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) for their third core science. The author only selected ahadith which the entire religion revolves around in his book. Thus, numerous further core subjects can be derived from these narrations such as acts of worship, etiquettes of repentance, noble manners and lofty etiquettes. Students will study the meanings of these ahadith, how to apply them in their lives and are encouraged to memorise them.

The life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is a fundamental part of Islam. The famous book; Ar-Raheeq Al-Makhtum by Sheikh Safi-ur-Rahman al-Mubarakpuri will be summarised as our fourth core science for our children. Children from both “Coursenotes” and “Workbook” booklets will study the life of our Prophet ﷺ, understand the key events that took place in his lifetime, taught how to apply his characteristics and etiquettes and made to take pride in the teachings and life of Muhammad ﷺ.

Other than our Prophet ﷺ and his companions, our children need role models to look up to and aspire to be like, and what better examples than Prophets and Messengers of Allah. Allah sent many Prophets and Messengers and explained key elements of their lives in the Quran and Sunnah in order for us to better ourselves. Every story is full of wisdoms and benefits which are all applicable in our lives today. Thus, this science is our fifth core science taught to all children, “coursenotes” and “workbooks.”

CLASSROOMS
At An-Nakhlah Academy we believe every child should be given due care and attention to enable them to reach and go beyond their potential. We believe this is only possible if students are kept to a minimum in each classroom. Thus, it is our policy to never go beyond a maximum of 15 students per class.
COURSE MATERIALS
Students will be given all course materials, bags, notepads, student progress books and pens at the beginning of every term. There is no extra fee for this other than the one off payment of £20 when first enrolling a student.
FEES
Our term fees are at £170 with £15 discounts for each sibling. There is a one off payment of £20 when first registering a student, which will cover all course material from bags, booklets, pens etc until the end of a students study at our academy.
DURATION
The An-Nakhlah Academy runs for three terms in the year. The duration of each term is twelve weeks of study on both Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Our terms and holidays are based upon the school academic year, and thus, students are given holidays for half term, winter, spring and summer holidays.
ASSESSMENT
Oral and written assessments take place during the final week of every term. Students are tested on their progression in their Quran, Duas and Islamic Studies. The top scoring students in each class are all presented with notable gifts and presents for their achievements.
CERTIFICATES
At the end of every term students are given gifts, toys and certificates to recognise their achievements and to motivate them to continue pursuing the path to knowledge.

SAFEGUARDING

We believe every child is entitled to a fair education and no child should be treated any different to others. We ensure all of our teachers, staff and volunteers (anyone who will come into contact with children) undergo an Enhanced DBS check as well as a rigorous reference check before commencing any work with the children to ensure we are very familiar with those who are teaching our children.
